Last night: Bar fights, Davy Graham ('guitar legend') and more!

Good golly!

We are proud to announce that, in the style of old wild west tradition, a proper bar fight broke out last night while we were playing! Broken glasses, bottles flying through the air, people shouting, jumping over tables, and that was just what we managed to see from the stage as we kept on playing through it... Okay, it wasn't the biggest fight ever and the staff did manage to control it fairly efficiently, but it was our first and to be honest it was probably long overdue! I hope someone took photos...

Amongst the audience that night was guitar legend Davy Graham who went on to grace us all with an impromptu set. He's a curious character who reputedly inspired others such as Bert Jansch, Eric Clapton, Paul Simon and Jimmy Page and apparently counts Bob Dylan amongst his fans!

For those of you who haven't heard of him, he's led a pretty interesting life, you can read more about it on wikipedia or his official website. I should warn you though, he may be a guitar legend but if you are lucky to get a lesson from him don't be surprised if all he does is put on an album by Ravi Shankar and leave you listening while he goes to the pub, returning only to turn the record over (then back to the pub, of course)...

This reminds me of a quote said last night which stuck in my mind:
"A true artist has good days and bad; only the mediocre are consistent"

Not mediocre but consistently good were Mat Gibson & The Fallen Hearts, who played a great gig last night and got the people dancing and clapping, always great to watch and listen! Also good to see was Pete Molinary, soon go on the road supporting Holly Golightly, the lucky fella!

All in all, it was a night to remember, well, for us anyway (courtesy of turning worm)...

Cheers,
P.
